Suspension spring

Post by AdminCR » Fri Jun 23, 2017 4:47 pm

It is crucial for a clock to run to have the appropriate stiffness in its suspension spring. Too thick strips in the suspension spring means the suspension is too stiff and therefore the clock won’t run. Too thin is perhaps not so much of a problem as long as it holds the pendulum without breaking. The thinner the strips the easier the suspension spring is damaged. If the strips are too thick do not file them thinner, because chances are you do not file them equally thin everywhere. The result is you create a break easily.
